Historical background

A day after Israel celebrated it's 19th independence day the first signs of war
started to appear.On may 16th Egypt demanded that the UN peacekeeping force in Sinai will
withdraw at once.The scretery general accepted this demand and triggerd the partial
mobilization of the Israeli Army.Egypt responded by closing important Israeli Shipping lanes, and
the partial Israeli mobilization beacame a full one.After a few weeks of futile diplomatic
attemps at solving the crisis the IDF(Israeli Defence Force) recieved a green light from
it's goverment to operate against Egypt.In the war that followed Israel smashed the armies
of Egypt and it's allies after only six days.The arab world was in shock ,Israel has tripled
in size and reunited Jerusalem.The Arabs could not accept this new reality and decided
to continue the war but,because their armies were still too weak they decided to wage a limited
war without the use of ground forces.This was known as the War Of Attrition which went on and off
until october ,73.On october 6th ,73 The Egyptian and Syrian armies launched a surprise attack
against Israel and caught the IDF completely off guard .After only six hours the Egyptians managed
to land on The eastern bank of the Suez canal and break the Bar-Lev line which was thought to be 
unbreachable.Three dayes after the initial attack the IDF managed to stabelize it's lines with
fresh reserves coming in as fast as they can.Eventually,the idf launched a counter offensive
which broke the Syrians and proceeded by crossing the Suez canal and capturing large terretory on
the western bank ,a move which forced the Egyptian to negotiate a cease fire




The Scenario

Installation
.Create a new folder in your scenario section and name it "sixdays"
Then copy these files into the new folder

.to start the scenario select 1967.scn from your sixdayes folder
This is a multiple event scenario so when you start a new game
you must first activate part1.bat from your folder.You
will be required during gameplay to load other parts.When
this happens save your game as "sh" (very important!!) ,quit the 
game and activate the needed bat file

The Map

For those of you who are nor familier with the geography of the
Middle-east here are some explenations.

The Sinai desert-This semi island is seperated from the rest of Egypt
borders the Suez canal in the west and Israel in the East.It's ,
terrian is mostly desert with almost impassible drifting sands areas
in the north-west ,from this area to  the south stretches a long ridge
of mountains which are also preety impassible except for 2 passes ,The Mitle
in the south and the Gidi in the north

The Golan heights-these highlands are located to Israel's north-east
and are represented by  the hills terrain       

The West Bank-From the golan streches a river southwards,the river Jordan
all the terretory which lies west of the river and is not Israeli in the,
begining of the scenario is named "the West Bank" and is inhibated by the
Palestinians.

The Gaza Strip-Is a strip of land which consists of the cities Gaza and Rafiah
It is inhabited by Palestinians.

Gameplay

This scenario is very different from most war based scenarios.First and prabobly
most important,you can't produce almost any units while playing this scenario.I
did this because It enables me as the creator to controll the size and composition
of the armies in the game and to keep them as realistic as possible .Second,Historaclly
none of the countries in this scenario were able to produce almost any of the units
but had to purchese them from their freindly superpowers such as the USA and USSR
Finally,You'll think twice before sending units to suicidal missions and will.
prefer to repair a damaged unit rather then letting it take another shot.This
will make you face the same problems of the small Israeli army as it's commanders faced

Another big difference is the technolegy advances .Advances in this scenario
represent strategic decisions rather then technolegy advances.The first
kind of advances is the option of purchesing new units rather then producing them
the usual way .For example:If you wish to improve your air force you can decide to 
investigate the "buy F-4 Phantoms" advance.when you'll get it 5 Phantoms
will appear in your army .Again this is ,I think, a much more realistic way then the usual one
The second kind is the option to launch a new military campaign.Bacause you.
can move your units from when edge of the map to the other with little diffeculty.I've 
decided to represent the time required to prepere your army to a new campaigne with a
technolegy advance.
The final type is the one of strategic projects .Such as building a defensive line of forts
along the Suez canal or developing nuclear weapons.Once again simply click on the desierd
project when it is avalible .remember not the neglect any of the 3 categories because either
one is crucial to victory

Another new aspect is the Demobilization of your army when total war is not in progress.Because
the Israeli army relies mostly on reserves don't expect your army to remain moblized when the
war is over .So don't be surprised when after the Six-Day war large elements of your army will
leave you ,but don't worry they will return when they will be needed.


The Players

Israel-This is the civ you must play .Any other chice will completley destroy the scenario
Israel is a small nation surrounded by enemies ,however their army is far superior in quality.
then it's neighbours's .their biggest problem is that of numerical inferiorety .you'll read more
about them under the strategy section

Egypt-They are the most powerful civ of the arabs and your biggest problem.The Egyptian
army is the largest and strongest of the Arab armies.You will be in constant conflict
with them until one of you will finally collapse

Syria-Another dangerous civ which will be in constant war with you although
not as strong as the Egyptians

Jordan-Althogh they have some western weapons they are much weaker then Syria and Egypt
and will learn their lesson after you'll give them some blows in the Six-Day war

Lebanon-this civ will remain neutral unless you decide to invade it .If you
should try to do so they won't give you much of a fight ,but don't be tempted to think
you can hold it easely

Palestinians-This is a civ which represent the palestinian pepole which once
under your rule will engege you in a very damaging gurilla warfere from their defferent
bases around the Middle East .Althogh you can hurt them you can never defeat them

The USSR-This civ is by far the most powerful, but they will remain out of the
game unless their allies in the region will be in serious danger.So be carful
not to press too hard on your rivals even if you can  because once they come after you 
things get much harder


The SIX DAY WAR                              1

when the scenario begins your army is mobelized against Egypt and is ready to strike.You
have also some units on the Jordanian and Syrian fronts but,your major effort is on the south
Historically the southern offensive opend with the complete destruction of the Egyptian air force,you are advised to do the same 
and not let even one Egyptian aircraft off the ground ,if you do this your victory is ensured
after you spend the first turn in ensuring your victory over Egypt you can turn to the other fronts
your objectives are simply to take every hostile city you can reach within 4 turns.If you fail
to do this then you must start over


The WAR Of ATTRITION                            2

After the Six Day War is over  and you load part2 you are faced with a new reality.Your
army has demoblized and got much smaller and a new kind of limited warfere is now
in progress.Because your enemies need time to recover from their defeat they engage you In
a limited war of attrition, this means there won't be any ground combat but, they will use
commando raids,katyusha attacks and air strikes in order to kill and destroy as much of your men
and equipment.Remember every unit is valuble and must be preseved.Your options are also limited
you can respond with commando raids and air strikes of your own against enemy airbases
and facilities but remember not to consume your resources ,you'll need them later.Another problem
is the Palestinian terrorists which will attack you from your own terretory .They will
operate from bases in Jordan,Lebanon,The West Bank and the Gaza Strip.If you find their attacks
unbearable you can decide to attack their base in Jordan ,the village of Karame,or you can
decide to invade Lebanon and try to stop the destructive katyushas from being launched.Both
of these operations require a technolegy advance .Except from the constant fighting you must also 
prepre your defensive lines on the Suez canal and in the Golan either by researching related
advances and by using engineers to build tank ramps and access roads.Tank ramps are created
by transforming the terrain of the desert and hills,the new terrain has big defence bonus
and will be an excellent place to block enemy advance

The YOM KIPPUR WAR                             3

This is the finale of the scenario and the hardest part of the three.I won't tell you much
about it except for some important tips.The Egyptians will use fonton bridges in order
to cross the canal and you can slow their crossing by destroying these bridges ,althogh
they will be restored quickly.You too can cross the canal but, only on your bridge which will
appear when you retake Dar'asusr,But remeber that if your bridge is destroyed it will be
gone for good so don't try to cross the canal unless you're really ready.A final tip is 
to alwayes remember not to go to far unless you have to,because the Soviets stand ready to intervine 
and don't expect your allies to do the same

The Units

Israel

Paratroops-This is your elite infantry unit used in offense and defense
Don't waste them on commando raids behind enemy lines.

Golani Inf-Another elite infantry unit ,althogh not as good as the paratroops.They
are attached to the northern command and do most of their fighting up north

Mech Inf-This is a good defensive unit used to hold occupied cities

home guard-A weak defensive unit used mostly  to trigger events since it can't move

Frogmen-Your elite commando unit used to attack behind enemy lines and for other 
speciel missions .This unit is immortal!! so don't worry about sending them to
missions behind enemy lines.In order to trasport them you can use submarines

 A.M.X 13-A French light tank used to knock out easy targets such as infantry
 and weak tanks.Use them to realese your heavy tanks to harder missions

Sherman-An old American tank which belongs mainly to the armourd reserve corps but, it
can still do some serious damage when required

M-48-A n american medium tank an your fastest tank avilable.Use it to break deep into
enemy lines  and it will do the rest

M-60 Paton-An improved version of the M-48 ,althogh a bit slower

Centurion-A british medium tank and your main battle tank it is stronger then anything the Arabs
throw at you ,highly mobile,and a good defender especially on a ramp

Super Mestere-A French warplane good for ground attack but,has serious problems against A.A fire

Mirage-A French warplane  excellent for both air to air combat and ground attacks.This
aircraft will rule the sky at least until the Phantom arrives at the scene

Skyhawk-The American warplane that will replace the obsolete Mestere .It is better
then the Mestere but inferior to the Mirage and Phantom

F-4 Phantom-The best aircraft in the game.The only aircraft which has a chance against it is
the Soviet Mig-27

Submarine-Your submarines are stronger then the Arabs's and can transport your Frogmen.But
please don't use them to transport anything else

I.Destroyer -Your destroyers can easely match any enemy ship and can also engage
in naval bombardment

Rocket ship-Your best naval weapon .Excellent both in naval warfere and ground support
In the Yom Kippur War it can carry Gabriel missiles and do some very serious damage to any.

Gabriel Msl-As expleined before Rocket ships can fire this missile in sea to sea combat
but can also be used to attack ground targets

The Arabs

A Infantry-The basic Arab infantry unit which is used in defense.You'll find
zounds of these in the Egyptian army

T-34-A very old Soviet tank which is simply no match for your armourd force

JS-1 Stalin-Another very old Soviet tank but unlike the T-34 is very good on defense.It's
main weakness is mobility

T-54-A medium Soviet tank which can do some damge if left alone

T-55-The arab main battle tank which is An improved version of the T-54.During
the Six day War you can capture these tanks and use them yourself

T-62-The best Arab tank and your biggest problem ,however is inferior
to the Centurion and Paton tanks

Commandos-This is an elite Arab infantry unit be very carful from these
units otherwise they'll make your life much harder

-The arab artillery which can do major damage if not attended to-115mm

Mig-17-This Soviet warplane is the weakest plane in the game but don't
ever ignore it

Mig-21-a good Soviet fighter which must be destroyed while on ground or else
can do a lot of damge

Su-20-A Soviet long range warplane which can destroy ground targets very easely

A.Destroyer-A weaker version of your destroyers

A.Submarines-Very old and premetive submarines which can't cause too many problems

Soviet

Mig-27-The most modern warplane in the game .It will appear only if the soviets enter
the game expect heavy damage when this one comes your way

T-72-Another part of the Soviet Expeditionary force which can engage and defeat any of 
your tanks

Sov.Infantry-Elite Soviet soldiers which must be wiped out before they can attack

Battleship-The soviet will send it to bombard your major ports if they enter the war.None
of your ships is a match for this one

Palestinian

Terrorist-A small para-military force which will engage you in hit and run
attacks

Katyusha-This hazard Will fall on you like rain unless you can find it's lauching sites and
silence them


Advances

Upgrade Aircraft-This one will result in the upgrading of all your Super Mesteres
to Skyhawks

Build Bar-Lev line-This will result in the construction of a taugh defensive line
of forts along the eastern bank of the Suez canal

Fortify the Golan-Will construct a defensive line along the Israeli-Syrian border

Nuclear research 2-You can choose to develope nuclear weapons.If you do a new unit will
appear near Jerusalem and if destroyed by you in the Yom Kippur War will result
in you recieving a nuclear missile every turn.Althogh this may sound good
remember that the Soviets won't just stand there while you destroying whole Arabs cities
so don't use this option unless it's an emergency

Develope Missiles-This will result in you reiceving the excellent Gabriel missiles
when the Yom Kippur War begins
